Life is... convincing 2 daughters to smile for the camera...

Wow you made it this far? Thanks for stopping by. It means a lot to me if you’re reading this.

Family

I’m originally from Los Angeles, spent most of my life in Atlanta, and recently moved to Dallas. I have a beautiful wife Kieshawn of whom I’ve been married to for 11 years. Together we have 2 even more beautiful daughters, Kennedy (6) and Karsyn (4), aka ‘the Pinkas’.

I love sci-fi and fantasy stuff like Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel and DC on TV and the silver screen and comics and video games and coffee mugs and t-shirts and hoodies and...I think you get it. I listen to anything from hip hop to country to electronica...as a matter of fact I used to DJ, rap, and produce via my alter ego ‘Johnny Jacuzzi’ (top secret information on how I aquired that name). But currently I’m feelin’ the ‘Chill’ music station on Apple Music.

I‘m also an advocate of Autism benefits reform and support causes to help others that are dealing with the circumstances autism brings. This is very personal to me, as my daughter Kennedy has been diagnosed with ASD.

Design

I’ve been designing since 1994 when I graduated from Tucker High School and ventured off into college doing commercial art aka, trying to establish an education in print/graphic design. Then around 1998, the secret let out (after obtaining a visual communications diploma) that web design was getting hot, so I began to pursue what design and coding meant for web sites, and graduated from the Art Institute of Atlanta in 2003 with a degree in Multimedia and Web Design.

Since then, I’ve been a web designer, Sr. Web Designer, and Web Design manager in Corporate America with a few stints in some pretty awesome ‘start up-esque’ environments. However, the industry was transforming once again but this time it was all about mobile web/responisve design. So I pursued that industry and became a mobile web designer which forced me to sharpen my views on what UX meant.

Eventually, I made my way into mobile design for Android and iOS applications for enterprise level and IOT applications. It is here that I have become the Senior UX and UI Designer that I am today.

During my journey, I’ve been fortunate to work on projects and demos for several fortune 500 companies and have since taken up a passion for B2B user experience design because well, they need improvements desperately. It’s like, the B2C side has been doing well thanks to the overall demand of apps in stores etc., but hey, enterrpise applications need love too right?! That’s my perspective. That’s my jam...

Lastly, I’m excited to see what’s next. 4K TV’s with massive content and apps to support them? Virtual reality UX? Wearable UX has taken off and is steadily growing. It’s an exciting time to be a part of the UX ecosystem.
